Heat treatment does not mean the table can be ignored. Operators still need to remove spatter with suitable tools and avoid heavy grinding on the working face. Holes, slots, edge rulers, and side reference faces should also be cleaned because small hard points can affect locating pins or clamp blocks.

Different shops may choose machined and oiled surfaces, black nitriding, or another protective process. The choice depends on welding frequency, humidity, cleaning habits, and whether the table is used every day or stored between jobs. With steady care, the treated surface helps reduce rust, protects fixture contact areas, and keeps the table easier to prepare for the next welding setup.

Daily spatter control also protects accessories. Pins, clamps, and support blocks should be cleaned before they are returned to storage. When clean accessories meet a clean table surface, the setup takes less force and the operator can spot alignment problems sooner.
